Description

I had drawn this one just before going on vacation, I scanned it in just in case I had an urge to finish it. And, I did! So here we are, posting this one from California. :)

I adore The Jungle Book. It's just so much fun, and so wonderful to watch. Also it's my dad's favorite Disney film--he loves the music in it, and so do I.
Heheh, the siren song that the Girl does at the end is genius. Only this lovely little girl could've gotten Mowgli to leave the jungle. I refuse to acknowledge the name "Shanti" for the Girl. She will always be "The Girl" to me. :P

And the kiddies get their own little folder: [link]

I like The Jungle Book (both Disney and Kipling's fables). I think you already know this if you did some research, but the girl (aka Shanti) was based on a village girl in Kipling's last story about Mowgli's adventures, The Spring Running.

Along with his wolf brother Gray-Brother, Mowgli was going to visit his adopted mother Messua in a village (since the other one was destroyed by the jungle citizens under Mowgli's command, because of his hatred of the village people, who only scowled and looked down upon the man cub, except Messua). Messua was happy to see him, and after his visit, he and Gray-Brother way going to flee back into the jungle.

And this is the part when Mowgli saw an anonymous village girl: A girl in white clothing came down some path that led to the outskirts of the village. Gray-Brother dropped out of sight at once, and Mowgli backed noiselessly into a field of high springing crops. He could almost have touched her with his hand when the warm; green stalks, closed before his face and disappeared like a ghost. The girl screamed, for she thought she saw a spirit, and then she gave a deep sigh. Mowgli parted the stalks with his hands and watched her until she was out of sight.
