Cody by MistyTang Cody by MistyTang
The Rescuers Down Under is probably... no, it's definitely the only good animated Disney sequel. Oh sure, there's a few direct-to-video ones I genuinely enjoy, but... they still skim as guilty pleasures. Not so with this one! This one was actually a quality production (not direct to video), had a good story and great characters. And I actually wouldn't mind if Disney went for another sequel for our dear Rescuers--I'd love to see Bernard and Bianca on another adventure!

But I digress. Who wouldn't like Cody? He has a giant bird friend and helps out trapped animals. Oh, and post eighties gigantor hair.
...Frank thrown in for good measure. ;)

Travelling with my faithful birdie
On the outback trail, where I feel comfy
I met two strange friends, they made me curious
They took me in and gave me breakfast
And they said:

"
Do you come from a land down under?
Where heroes glow and villains plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder
You don't stop, our journey is not over"

Then I met a sinister man, who was ready to tussle
He was six foot four and full of muscle
A poacher, fear and cruelty were his language
With a lizard that wanted to eat me like a sandwich
And he said:

"I come from a land down under
I hunt, I cage, I kill, that's how I prosper
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover!"

But I wasn't gonna lose Marahute that day
We defeated the poacher, and me and me friend parted ways
They saved my bird, they saved me
And now I travel my land, happy and free
And I said:

"I come from a land down under
A land of beauty, a land of wonder
My free spirit can't be torn asunder
And my quest to nurture nature will never be over"

It's just that Disney underrates him so much.

Look at how common they've made Alice. 2 Disneyland attractions, a character at Meet n' Greets, an appearance on a Disneyland candy tin, and an appearance on "House of Mouse", while Cody...gets nothing.

Although I love Cody, he's just not as iconic as some of the other Disney characters. He's an awesome character and his movie is fantastic, but it just doesn't stand out the way Alice in Wonderland does. :)

This is an AWESOME movie. Possibly the only Disney sequel to surpass the original.
Although I thought Return to Neverland was pretty decent for the most part.
Excellent work here. He is TOO cute!

You want to know the reason they never made a third Rescuers movie? During the planning of the intended third movie, the actress who played Bianca passed away. The project was dropped partially because they didn't want to get another actress and (I hope) partially out of respect for her memory.

Yep, I know. very sad, and very unfortunate.
But--and I know it's blasphemy--I still want a third Rescuers. I'm sure there are plenty of voice actors who can do a good Eva Gabor. :)

There were plans following the release of 'Down Under' for a third Rescuers movie, but Eva Gabor's death in 1995 scrapped all notions, because no one could replace her as the voice of Miss Bianca.

I loved this movie :)

Did you know that this was Disneys first ever animated sequel, and they obviously got a bit lazy afterwards :(

Rescuers Downunder was my favorite movie as a kid. I still love this movie to bits! Plus my name is Cody and he kind of looks like I did when I was young so that was a real ego boost for little me! Great art! This movie needs more love.
