John Kahrs (director): New York is a pretty intimidating place; people have their guard up. It's odd to feel alone while being surrounded by people all the time. Sometimes you can make random connections with strangers, and I started thinking about that idea. What if someone made a connection? What if this guy made a connection with a girl and he lost her, and he spent the rest of the story trying to get her back? You know, if they really meant for each other... it's fate. It's romantic.

I saw Wreck-it Ralph, knowing that if WiR was bad, it'd still be worth the seven bucks just to see the short, Paperman. Paperman was amazing. Just drop-dead gorgeous. Sweet, funny, beautiful. Completely wonderful.
(Wreck-it Ralph by the way is fantastic, totally loved it too. So it was a completely awesome movie-going experience for me.)

Because this short is just so incredible on every level, I had to draw these two~
It's been nice doing some pieces just for myself. :) Also I tried some different pencil-work than I've been doing. That was a lot of fun!

I think you did a great job capturing the Paperman style while still putting your own spin on it. =D Man, that was such a great short, wasn't it? So sweet.

I like Wreck-it Ralph, but it didn't even come close to the beauty of Paperman.

I love the black-and-white colors, but with the little spots of red for her lipstick. It's beautiful.

I'd agree with that. Wreck-it Ralph was gorgeous, but Paperman had the advantage of being a short; more liberty for the animators to experiment, I think. :)
