A few years back (like around 2009), there was this whole thing of taking Disney coloring pages (you know, form those cheap coloring books you can buy at Wal-Mart), and painting them up with a classical painting for inspiration/emulation.
I had wanted to do one at the time it was going on--and I even started one, but... I quickly lost enthusiasm for it. I'm kinda glad I did, because it would have aged
horribly if I had finished it. >..>;
And...if you're a member of the #
Disney-club (which I co-admin with my sister *
Zimeta), we're thinking of doing a contest with this theme.
But just yesterday I got the urge to try again. The trend was to choose a Disney princess, but I thought I'd be different and choose Bambi. (I've been trying to work on animals recently, so it made sense to me.)
I think a lot of people are kinda mixed on the movie (some people find it boring, I think?), but me? I
love Bambi. It's such a gorgeous and rich film. So so remarkable--especially since it was made waaaay back in 1942.
I had so much fun doing this one. It was
freeing. Normally I kinda fuss over my sub-par drawings as I color them... But this time, it's not my drawing. All I had to do was color the already solid image (say what you want about those cheap coloring books--the drawings are typically pretty darn good). And it was
wonderful. I'm even thinking of doing another one.
